Dos and Don'ts

Do

Branch out into beauty. Whether it's vibrant blush, winged-out liner or an orange lip, try something new.

Polish your nails with pastels. Not only will you be ready for spring, but looking at light blue or lavender can have a calming effect.

Exercise to energize. It might sound contradictory, but taking a brisk walk outside has been shown to re-energize you better than a nap or coffee.

Wear sunscreen. It sounds obvious, but a third of Americans in a 2009 survey said they don't use sunscreen. An easy way to protect yourself is to buy a 2-in-1 body lotion. I use Lubriderm's Daily Moisture with SPF 15 whenever I'm walking outside. Its light, non-greasy formula is perfect for everyday use.

Don't

Forget to take care of your lips. To keep chapped lips at bay, try a lip exfoliator like Philosophy's Kiss Me Exfoliating Lip Scrub. Rub it on lips and gently remove with a washcloth. Want similar results on the cheap? Use Vaseline and rub an old toothbrush over lips to slough off dry skin.

Cake on your makeup. Swap your foundation for a tinted moisturizer--your skin wants to breathe!

Go to the tanning bed--there are so many healthier options. Whether you try a spray tan, bronzing towelettes or rub-on gels, find the formula that works for you.

Worry. Be happy. Be yourself.

Enjoy looking and feeling blissfully beautiful.
